While Dubai and the emirates keep rolling out one unique landmark after another, few people around the world see the darkness behind all that glitz and glamour. The darkness of slavery, forced labour and repeated human rights violations of workers from poor third world countries whose sweat and blood makes such feats possible. Few around the world who matter are aware of the miserable living conditions the workers in these middle eastern countries endure, rarely ever does the sufferings of their family members back in Bangladesh, Srilanka, India, Pakistan and Philippines make news. Crook travel agents working hand-in-glove with greedy heartless contractors lure these labourers by dangling high salaries which they never pay. Instead their passports are confiscated on arrival and they are forced to work for years together for less than one dollar a day, sometimes hungry and thirsty in the sweltering desert heat all day long and then crammed together with 20 more of their co-workers in a tiny box to sleep at night. Many of them get sick for life, others die.
