While Georgia families struggle, Gov. Deal is using our tax dollars like a personal legal defense fund--and weve had enough. Georgians deserve honesty and transparency from their elected officials, and it starts with a full, independent investigation of both the original Deal campaign finance case and the cover-up that ensued. The state recently finalized settlements with three former employees of the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission connected with the commission’s investigation of Gov. Nathan Deal’s 2010 campaign. Those settlements, combined with the jury verdict in favor of the commission’s former director, mean Georgia taxpayers now owe more than $3 million for the cover-up of the investigation into Gov. Deal’s campaign.
