While I agree on this mathematically, I would still like to emphasize that immigration reform is a human right issue and not simply an economic one. As a woman of color, I support immigration reform as I believe in the fundamental dignity of the human person and resist any forms of injustice that stifle human creativity and dignity. The United States of America is great not because of its economic might but because of its foundational belief in the rights and dignity of the human person. In my own view therefore, the Constitution is violated when we violate the rights and dignity of a human person. This is at the core of the advocacy for immigration reform.
