While I await the PMs address to the nation, I take this opportunity to say that if this government loses the next election it will not be due to a lack of performance within the Micro economic sector but lack of performance re Macro economics. Regardless of how much good this government did in terms of reducing inflation, infrastructure development and so on, the fall in oil prices coupled with the inability of the govt to diversify the economy will be the deciding factor. The opposition will have a field day. Any borrowing at this time, be it to finance the highway or anything else will bring with it added burdens to the economy in the form of increased taxation, reduction in social services, reduction or removal of fuel subsidy, devaluation of our dollar and so on.
