While I didnt have a personal relationship with Robin Williams, I - TopicsExpress

While I didnt have a personal relationship with Robin Williams, I did get to be in a few situations with him. The most vivid memory was decades ago at the Comedy Store. A buddy and I got shipped to this little overflow room because the place was packed. My friend at the time was running the Comedy Store and promised it would be great...sure enough after a couple of comics, in comes Robin Williams performing for 4 people in a room the size of a closet. Immediately Robin started making jokes about my buddy and I being gay. He would ask us questions....and we both could not come up with an answer that he didnt turn into something that was the most gay thing ever to come out of someones mouth. We both were trying like crazy to come up with un-gay answers... and no matter what we said, he just annihilated us. It is hard to explain how funny, talented and genius he was that night. He was appropriate...as I guarantee that any actual gay people would have thought it was hysterical...but his comedic genius was simply at another level. He was Roger Federer on a tennis court or Yo Yo Ma on the cello. A few other times, I got to see him at Andre Agassis event in Vegas and he was always genius, and always crazy charitable fanangling 100s of $1000s of dollars out of people in live auctions to go bike rides and dinners with him. So many kids in Las Vegas had better lives because of him. Depression is such a terrible illness and takes out so many people! it is a mental prison that makes its victims feel like there is no way out. Super bummer! This is an amazing scene from Good Will Hunting showing what a talent he was. https://youtube/watch?v=qM-gZintWDc
