While I respect Kid Cudis opinion that materialism and braggadocio - TopicsExpress

While I respect Kid Cudis opinion that materialism and braggadocio is holding back our culture, it pains me somewhat to partially disagree. Sure, I can attest to music being an art form that has a richly pronounced influence with its message, and that directly assigns a certain responsibility to its messenger. In fact, there’s an entire underground and conscious hip hop community that supports this view. Yet, I will still insist that this is no reason to condemn the flip side. Hip Hop needs party music, it needs club music, and it needs songs that give you a glimpse of what you can achieve. We’re in a capitalist world, and Kid Cudi is very wrong to think that ridding Hip Hop of its materialism would make the culture any more valuable than it is.
