While I understand how its justified by the families of victims, I - TopicsExpress

While I understand how its justified by the families of victims, I just dont agree with the death penalty. I get the thinking behind it. An eye for an eye and such. Thats antiquated in the modern civilized society honestly. Most respectable countries have abolished it. Human nature is to want to be free. To me, spending life is prison is a worse fate than being put to death for your crime. Id venture to say its more humane to put someone to death versus a life sentence. If youre trying to punish someone, why give them the easy way out? Taking away the freedom of someone for the rest of their lives and letting them have every waking moment to reflect would be more justice to me if I were in the victims familys situation. As Albert Camus said: To kill a man in a paroxysm of passion is understandable. To have him killed by someone else after calm and serious mediation and on the pretext of duty honorably discharged is incomprehensible.
