While I was aware of (and have always liked) Fatboy Slims track - TopicsExpress

While I was aware of (and have always liked) Fatboy Slims track Right Here, Right Now, Id never seen the official video of this track on YouTube at https://youtube/watch?v=ub747pprmJ8. I cant help thinking this video neatly summarises the state of humanity and our planet today – i.e. full of promise but fundamentally constrained by the darker side of human nature (see, in contrast, Alfie Kohns book The Brighter Side of Human Nature) and our seeming inability to learn how to think systemically and plan further ahead than a next democratic election in no more than four to five years time. What frustrates me about this current state is that, collectively, we clearly have the ability to reverse climate change, create fairer, more equitable, more productive societies and so on, but we are not currently bringing this amazing ability to bear for collective benefit. On the contrary, the disparity between the rich and poor continues to rise around the world, our climate is being ruined in the interests of short term human satisfaction, individual and collective financial debt continues to rise, and important, immediate issues, such as achieving peace, gender equality and religious toleration, are seemingly beyond the ability of dictators, plutocrats and politicians worldwide to address, let alone resolve. Demonstrably, we have the ability to change the world for the better . . . or we can continue to think selfishly and leave our successors to pick up the pieces. Given that dictators are, by definition self-serving, and no politicians globally are willing to step up to this challenge, how do we best, collectively, bottom-up, use todays amazing technology and new forms of working together (such Wikipedia, which requires no management superstructure to deliver benefits for all of us) to change our world for the better? This is clearly possible if we can galvanise sufficient momentum around the world. Any clues, folks?
