While I was walking my 13 year old dog today, I wasnt paying attention like I should have. I was on the phone. I didnt see the male pit bull mix approaching us from the left..his leash dragging...until he was on us.. He attacked arrow.. I was kicking him to get him away and he bit my dog on the shoulder and began wringing him around. I had noticed the owner running with his dog while his significant other was sitting on a blanket nearby. I remember feeling frustrated that yet another owner was allowing their dog to run around freely. My dog has already been attacked in the past by a pit bull and had to get stitches (this isnt anti pit, its just the facts).. I was trying everything to get the dog off and the owner was slow to get up until his dog attacked. The woman never moved..she just sat there and watched. I was yelling at him to get his dog. The person on the phone was going through her own trauma, thinking I was also being attacked. My hands were all tangled in the leash as I was trying to pull at the same time I was trying to kick the dog.. My dog never does this, I dont understand..he said.. what can I do.. Now I was comforting my dog and checking to see if the other dog had broken the skin. He hadnt. My dog was not acting ok at first because hes old and Im sure it scared him. Thats why you DONT LET THEM OFF THE LEASH! I said.. I was just flabbergasted that this had happened again. I didnt have my gun on me (bb gun pistol) and I was sorry I didnt but I dont think it would have helped. Next time I will bring a bat.. I walked away with Arrow and checked him really good later..aside from losing some hair, hes ok.. I was probably more shook up.. I felt bad because I lost it on the guy...I even cussed..yup.. but it was so intense and Ive been trying to pull back a bit lately because I have been a bit overworked with trying to get the book done.. Thank God my old man dog is ok.. PK
