While Stacie was at the end of her battle with ALS, my daughter - TopicsExpress

While Stacie was at the end of her battle with ALS, my daughter Rylee and I were filming this segment. Youll have to get through a few of the announcements to see our segment. Its no coincidence that while we were filming, Stacie had passed away. I had always imagined being by her side, holding her hand and professing my unconditional love for her. Im still deeply saddened that I was not with her during the end of her life. Instead, I was called by God to honor her and Bob by filming this segment in an effort to increase awareness and plea for Horry County Schools to take a lead and become a national model on how schools can support children and families affected by ALS and in doing so, we will raise awareness, get people to take on our fight and plea to the schools across our nations to make donations and support these children and their families. Our segment is about Mrs. Mayer. Its a beautiful childrens book that tells the story about a teacher who becomes afflicted by ALS as her students watch her muscles start to atrophy. All the while Mrs. Mayer continues to teach, smile and ask her students What Did You Learn Today? The answers they give are heartfelt, hopeful and filled with love. As saddened as I am that I did not get to be with Stacie at the time of her death, it brings me great joy to honor her and Bob. Tonight, I have been asked to be the guest speaker as the teachers and staff at CFE take on the ALS ice bucket challenge. After the challenge, I will be taking the first flight home to be with my family and friends as we prepare to lay Stacie to rest. Feel free to share this video with the staff, faculty and teachers at your childrens school. We highly encourage you to make this book available to your children by adding it to your own personal home library, donate one to your childs school library or local community library. If you cannot afford to purchase the book please let us know and we will gladly donate one to your childs school in honor of Stacie and Bob Carr. I will provide you with the link below to purchase the book. I will also provide the link to another book who was written by Jodi ODonnell-Ames, Stars That Shine which is a touching story about a daughter and her parents who are struggling to adapt to daddys new wheelchair and whether or not they will participate in the Fourth of July parade given he is no longer able to walk through the parade. Its a touching story that includes an amazing array of resources about ALS. Another book that children should have access to through their schools libraries and local libraries. In will include the links below. I ask that you please share this post with your friends and family by most importantly to help me and my family make these books available to children through their schools and local libraries. Thank you so much and God bless you.
