. While YaLl Were Hyperventilating About Some Malaysian Plane... ..close to 300 negroes were drowning next door. At least 251 Congolese refugees drowned in the weekend sinking of a crowded boat on Lake Albert. I first heard about this disaster on Sunday, then by Tuesday the death toll was being estimated at around 98. What I find weird is the coverage (or lack of) of this disaster by media. I mean, with the Malaysian plane, we had wall to wall, 24 hr coverage. I honestly dont know what work the people at CNN were doing before mh 370 disappeared. Ill tell you this, in the past three weeks Ive learnt a lot about planes. Transponders, flight paths, military radars, pinging and everything in between. I also heard many theories, including abduction by aliens, black holes, plane getting hijacked to be used for some purpose later smh. So are we getting the same coverage of the Congo disaster? Do we know the boats name? Has the Congolese govt raided the boat captains house for any simulators he might have had at home? Did he have links to any outlawed groups? How bout the victims? Did any of them attempt to commandeer the boat? Do we have helicopters overflying the scene? How bout satellite images? Thats right, I forgot, this is Africa. We dont have satellites. Correction, we dont have shiit, not even simple life jackets. So lets not blame African govts sana, coz thats a broken record. Lets blame African media for once. What exactly do these fuuckers do? Do they just wait for the cnns, bbcs and aljazeeras to introduce a topic so they can start reporting? Why do I have to watch BBC, al jazeera and cctv Africa for African news? Makes you wonder what other news is bypassing us as we search for mh 370. I get especially pissed when I come across news from our local media describing things that affect my life in absolutely no way. Like this link I chanced upon last week that led me to some media groups website that I wont mention(hint: standard media group). So the link was titled Couple caught making love near school gate. so obviously I want to know where IN KENYA this happened, you know, coz it could be a school my nephews or nieces go to. On loading the page, guess what the first sentence was? Police in London are investigat.... African media is full of jokes, is what im trying to say....tafakari hayo uku nikimeza kopo la maji.
