While a lot of us keep debating about Arnab Gowswamis very kangaroo-court-way of conducting debates on the Times News Hour, in the new promos, Arnab is actually justifying his approach (in this country one needs to shout, to be heard). Unfortunately as a result of this attitude, Times News Hour debates end up being a slanging match..with neither the participants nor the viewer any wiser after a debate. Contrast this with a debate conducted by Sagarika Ghosh (I think on NTDV Profit..on Friday) between Abhishek Singhvi and BJP spokesperson (popular figure but I dont seem to recall his name). It was an hour long debate on some serious economic issues and both the sides put their points forward in a very articulate and structured manner, with strong rebuttals from both sides. At least at the end of the debate, as a viewer you will more educated about the two view points. No cross connection, no slanging matches and no attempt by the anchor to force his (or her) views on the debate...
