While birding Prowers County with Mark Peterson and Brandon - TopicsExpress

While birding Prowers County with Mark Peterson and Brandon Percival yesterday, Mark found this distant Dunlin at Thurston Reservoir. Distance and heat waves didnt help but it did look nice in a spotting scope. Dunlin, the name, is a shortened form of dunling (a small dun colored bird). Although uncommon in migration in Colorado there are close to 4 million estimated worldwide, with 1.25 million estimated in North America. The hunched back is a good field character when they arent in breeding plumage.
