While coming up with their birth plans, mothers-to-be might have thought of epidural for pain relief and wondered when is the right time for epidural to be administered. Well, mothers-to-be needn’t worry about this anymore. According to researchers, led by Dr Sng Ban Leong, Deputy Head & Senior Consultant of the Dept of Women’s Anaesthesia in KKH – Its when the mother-to-be asks for it! Published in The Cochrane Library on 9 Oct, the study “Early versus late initiation of epidural analgesia for labour” was jointly carried out by researchers from KKH, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Singapore Clinical Research Institute and a medical student from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore.
