While loading Luke up for the ballgame Monday, he informed me that his little friend was also with us. (And he told me in a way like it was a secret or a confession) I tried to play it off like it was very normal and not let him see that Im a little freaked out by it all, because Ive heard those imaginary friends are not so imaginary. I tried to make conversation while finding out a little more about Pukey. I asked him how long they had been friends, and he said Ah, bout... four or five years. (Luke is three). Is Pukey a good boy? Oh yeah, he takes care of me. How did you know his name? Hes a one told me! I tried not to worry much about it, and one the way home, I hoped he had forgot about him, but he said, Pukey is a little bit worried. What about, Baby? Bout his mommy. Im pretty sure Luke was the one who was a little bit worried about his Mommy and didnt want to admit that to me. So what do you all think, are they really smart enough to come up with an alter ego who can feel stuff that they uncomfortable feeling themselves, or what kind of presence is little Pukey? I never did have an imaginary friend, but I sure couldve used one at times.
