While looking at our first printed flyers I had a fluttering - TopicsExpress

While looking at our first printed flyers I had a fluttering feeling inside, because nearly a year ago I’ve been to the National Museum of Iceland, Reykjavik to find inspirational details for my fairy tale (than I had only a precise plot). I made a picture of an old book with a beautiful type, which later became a prototype for our title. I remember how thoroughly Maria Silberfoss and me were working at every detail, every little part of each letter. I also remember how we had been working at Sigurd and Eyja’s picture: Maria Silberfoss had drawn two versions with two different boys and then we were trying to understand, which picture actually was Sigurd’s portrait. Who of those two boys was Sigurd Petersson. That was a tough decision, because not only our opinions, but also our friend’s choices had divided 50-50% and it took about 8 days to sum up all our feelings. What else do I see on our fresh-printed flyers? A link to our video at Youtube, which is just on the edge of a little glossy leaflet, but means a lot for us: about two months of intense work (again, mostly by Maria Siberfoss), often at nights, in a close collaboration with our animator, Oleg Noskoff and our composer (and a magician) Vaulin Alexey, who had made an original soundtrack for our trailer. And, finally, the main link is for our website, where you can read the first chapters of Sigurd Petersson and the Lighthouse translated by Alastair C. Gull. Here I should mention that I am a translator myself and that makes the process of our work just ideal: we work properly at every detail, saving the meaning and the message of every metaphor, delivering unique feelings and sensations from the author to a reader. Sometimes Alastair works on some difficult parts 24x7, trying to find a perfect equivalent and then, while discussing the final version, we laugh and enjoy the fairy tale’s text in English. Hope, you will enjoy it too ;)
