While many of the Braeburn community enjoyed a well-earned half-term break, a group of intrepid adventurers from Braeburn Mombasa decided instead, to ascend the countrys highest mountain, Mt Kenya. Their assault on the summit ended in disappointment as adverse weather conditions and altitude sickness took its toll on the group from the coast, and they were unable to reach the Lenana peak. In the words of their teacher: Not only was it a great privilege to spend the week in the company of the courageous expedition students, it was extraordinary to see how they managed in the horrible weather conditions, the effect of altitude and the disappointment of not summiting! Each member of the group received a valuable learning experience of challenge in adversity and collective support. Congratulations to all those students - an awesome achievement. Better luck next time!
