While not considering the central question of whether our ideas - TopicsExpress

While not considering the central question of whether our ideas about god, a spiritual universe and cosmic retribution are actually ‘true’ (and the relative benefits/disadvantages of believing in something that could be helpful to wellbeing whether it is true or not) I found this article quite interesting. Perhaps humans are hardwired to be susceptible to (and lead more fulfilling lives with) religious belief and this is why atheism is often a much harder sell than other concepts that might follow the same ‘logical’ arguments and burden of proof considerations. It’s also interesting to wonder how changing global demographics and future wars / environmental issues could impact the relative numbers of theist/atheists around the world.
