While on campus I figure I should get a parking sticker for the new vehicle. After waiting in line for 15 minutes I had this pleasant exchange. Me: Yes I have a new vehicle so Ill need a new sticker. Clerk: Let me look you up. So you lost your sticker? Me: No I didnt lose it, I sold the car, I need to get one for the new vehicle. Clerk: (punches the computer for two minutes) Well it costs money to replace lost or stolen stickers. Me: (sigh) Ma`am I didnt lose it, no one stole it, I have the key to get past the gate I just need the sticker replaced for a NEW car. Clerk: Let me consult with my superior. Me: Awesome I have nothing else to do. (after another 2 min confab) Clerk: Ok youre going to have to file a police report and contact transportation about a lost sticker. Theyll decide to just give you a new one or charge you for a Summer sticker. Me: (counting to 10) Ok ma`am one more time. I didnt lose the sticker, I have a damn good idea its still attached to the windshield of the car I SOLD. Nothing was lost. Clerk: They consider that lost. Me: Youre fricking kidding me. Look I park in the central lot behind the ONeill Library. I still have the stupid key thingy. People pay to get into that lot and get a ticket, they have 3 levels of guest parking, well guess what Sunshine, I park in the upper levels where the guests do, since my classes are up in that area, they dont have stickers on THEIR cars, whos going to know? Youre telling me I may have to buy a special Summer sticker? What happens in September? Clerk: Well thats when new stickers come out anyway. The cops look for those stickers in the lot. Me: Im not buying a Summer sticker if I have to renew in the Fall. Clerk: Well Im not telling you not to, but Im not telling you to do that either. Me: Im going now, its been lovely chatting with you. (walk away, dont get arrested, dont get arrested)
