While setting the template, the installer follows various dimensions from the General layout drawing, say the DBG, Car centre to Cwt centre, Car centre to Landing sill and so on. But still in some cases the templates are not set in square thereby ending up in problems with running clearance or mismatch in centre lines of Car and counter weight. In order to cross check whether the template is in square, the installer should know how to theoretically calculate the diagonal of a right angled triangle.
