While some of the ancient organizations dream of building towers of foolish nonsense, even this day I relearned of a place easily forgotten in the long sweeping arc of this entire enterprise. High Hopes Memorial Park, more of a green street with a wrought iron fence around it, appears lacking in hope as, until a neighbor who lives on the street it is located told me of the unkempt condition of it, I too might never have ventured to take a look. This little patch of green is situated at the end of a triangle between 66 and 67 Streets just north of 41 Avenue. And of course I deployed Phase I and II Greening and Cleaning in an attempt to restore it to order, but it is again worth noting that it is relatively easy for places and people to fall off the radar. Diligence aside, I felt bad that it had been ignored and scattered to the wind. The gap between success and failure, sight and blindness is but a thin veil, and if it had not been for the neighbor to jar my memory I would have been just as guilty as the verbal activists as only 100% completion and devotion to duty and detail should be acceptable to our people. And there it is. While the established powers dream of floating houses above the earth, your people keep their feet firmly planted on the land and bring hands to iron. (08/05/14)
