While the KKTV 11 News weather app on my computer reads a balmy 2 degrees, apparently from their nearest reporting station to my little spread northwest of Peyton, Colorado, up on the south slopes of the Palmer Divide, this evening at sunset, after loading a big bale of hay on the back of my truck, my Dodge diesels turbo air intake temperature (an accurate digital reading of outside free air temperature) read 8 below zero. That was at sunset, and the temperature has dropped several degrees since then. My guess is that outside here its about 10 or 12 below zero. I think that the coldest weather I have endured was cold weather training in the Marine Corps when the lows dipped to 70 below zero and the high for the day was 20 below zero. I cant remember ever enjoying the cold, especially while doing horse chores.
