While the expenses incurred by these organizations may be significant, it pales in comparison to the true realized goal of intimidating those that opposed the Administration and the personal views of IRS employees that support it (the large majority). The true cost is the chill of suppressed opposition. The opposition never voiced or given to action out of the fear of being persecuted by the IRS. The threat of being added to The Enemies List is no small thing, these days. Unlike Republicans, that immediately refused to entertain Nixons enemies list as a source for increased audit scrutiny, apparently Democrats are not burdened by such concerns. Just as long as it is them doing the intimidating, they are fine with it. Democrats only hate Corruption when it is someone else.
