While this article makes some points, I do not entirely agree with its direction, nor have I researched in detail the facts put forth. What does seem important to me about Mr. Degrasse Tysons argument is the comparison between a very limited laboratory intervention in the development of living organism (which necessarily only accounts for the variables understood by the observers at the time of the experiment) and the much wider and wilder process involved in artificially selecting for desired traits in a given seed crop. The evolution that takes place in these age-old processes is not only influenced by human intervention, but also by a much wider set of variables many, and arguably, most, of which are invisible to our current levels of understanding.
