While tomorrow (12/21) is the first official day of winter, given mild weather and rain, we can find fall mushrooms through most of December. The challenge comes in January and February. Not so long ago we never thought to look for mushrooms over winter. Now, thanks to about 10 city park pop-up walks just the past 3 years during January and February, the NYMS has recorded over 100 species of mushrooms in these two winter months of the year.
