While troops from other countries leave the Golan Heights, Fiji peacekeepers come in UN peacekeepers have been monitoring a ceasefire between Syria and Israel in the Golan since 1974, but violence has escalated as the Syrian conflict spills over into the area. Now Fiji is sending 182 brave soldiers off to the most dangerous war zone in the world today. Other countries have withdrawn their troops because it was considered too dangerous. The soldiers said their farewells to their families possibly for the last time as they embark on a mission more deadly than any other the country has engaged in. But this is what soldiers do and train for and we wish them all the very best of luck and a safe return. Fiji’s dictator, Frank Bainimarama, however, who is also a shining example of a coward and is the illegal Commander of the RFMF, told Fiji citizens that potentially the soldiers could be going to their deaths. This mission, like previous UN missions since Fiji began operations in 1978, offers the soldiers and their families good income. It also helps Fijis poor economy with remittances -- an economy devastated by Bainimarama and Khaiyum through their corruption, intimidation, draconian decrees, mismanagement of public resources, no-rule-of-law, thuggery, corrupt judges, friends and family, and their childish tantrums and vindictiveness. Not to forget their disrespect for the indigenous Fijian people, their Chiefs, customs, traditions and religion and religious leaders. Bainimarama said that Fijis troops are answering the call to restore peace for the protection of innocent men, women and children. Unfortunately, the soldiers go to restore peace and protect innocent people in another part of the world while their own families and loved ones remain in Fiji at the mercy of Bainimarama’s corrupt and brutal dictatorship. Nevertheless the Fiji soldiers are good at the work they do overseas and they carry with them the pride and history of the brave Fiji soldiers past.. So again we have Bainimarama using the brave soldiers, like he had done with the CRW, to do his bidding while he takes the glory and hopes that it will shine a positive light on his dictatorship and military junta. Remember that Bainimarama travelled twice to France, each time bringing an airplane to Fiji but he won’t travel with his men to offer them moral support in what could be their last mission on earth. This is a prime example of a coward who is attempting to build a more corrupt and better Fiji for himself, his family and friends at the expense of others.
