While under the porch for a couple days, I had a lot of time to think. Brilliant thoughts. I believe we have an unused opportunity to elevate the status of this neighborhood to where we can become the pride of Hardin County -- the envy of Texas. Three words: Westwood LAKES Estates!!! San Antonio has the River Walk. Chicago has the Loop. New York has Harlem (well, maybe that isnt a good example.) We have.... listen up..... The Westwood River. Just think, if we were to dam up the river, we could form a lake suitable for boating, fishing, a wedding venue, etc. Tourists!! Kona Ice could sell ices at an inflated price to the Yankees coming in from Indiana, those with boats could conduct romantic rides for young couples, golf cart owners could offer rides along the beautiful beach front. We could even have a mysterious, rarely-seen river monster. Well call him Woody or Westy. That will bring out the nuts (nuts from OUTSIDE the neighborhood). And we could offer tours to the now infamous.... OPEN SEWER HOLE.... made famous on the Channel 12 News. To make this all possible we need to meet on a couple Saturdays with shovels and wheel barrows. After the next hurricane, we should have plenty of wood for projects from all the downed fences. It would be like an old-fashioned barn raising -- but without a barn.... or the Amish. Best of all, our property values would skyrocket! Maybe by as much as $300-$500! Maybe even, Lumberton would want to annex us. We could vote for Lumberton mayor -- does Lumberton have a mayor? We could get Lumberton Police to patrol for speeders, stopsign runners, ding-dong ditchers, and dog poo leavers. The opportunities are endless!! You were searching for a topic last night Dawn Teeter, Ron Sons, Melody McMillon Sorok, Dan N Tammi Treece-Woolly, Beka Bramblett. Hows this one. (Hope I dont get into any trouble with all the tags.)
