While we are celebrating on our success for completing Single Line BG Tunnel No 10 which is around 3.5 Km in length some interesting development is also taking place in other places of the world. The picture given below is of Eurasia Tunnel which will be a double storeyed tunnel and its expected to get completed by 2016. In India the LMG-SCL Railway construction is considered the toughest section in India. Geological problems has caused numerous hazards which has resulted in several injuries and loss of lives due to methane gas and other unknown problems. The major bottleneck of this project was the soil which is not considered good for tunneling. Its not stable and keeps giving way all the time. A minor tremor on the soil gives way to a landslide. Neverthless after 9 years of tunnelling and endless toil on extreme hostile conditions the contractors, engineers and all the hardworking labourers with their hard hats saw a ray of hope when they both digged out the finishing end. Coming January the contractor is about to surrender the project site to NF Railways.I wish them success and I am feeling confident that the project will be completed within the final deadline. #broadgauge
