While we endorse and will support efforts to have the Runoff overturned by the courts, FIXIN T&T recognizes that the need for legislation to govern Political Party Financing, Political Campaign Financing and Procurement is now one of desperation with the passing of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2014. With the Runoff, the unfortunate prospect of a recurrence of the experience in 2013, where obscene sums of money was spent as we endured what seemed like four general election campaigns, is now a reality; only this time it can be many more than four within the fifteen day period that immediately follows the general elections. Our already exposed and abused public purse is at far greater risk as the potential political payback increases. Many, if not all, members of the Government and the Opposition want unfettered access to our treasury. Few, if any, are even remotely interested in protecting our money, resources and patrimony. The energy very well and justifiably invested by THE PEOPLE in attempting to stop the runoff must increase and now include a commitment to realizing the requisite legislation and supporting infrastructure that can minimize all that continues to be lost to corruption and inefficiency. WE THE PEOPLE must force an end to opportunities for another Tarouba Stadium, LifeSport Programme, two million dollar flag and six million dollar fire truck retrieval. In this regard FIXIN T&T categorically rejects the proposed four hundred and ten million dollar Constituency Fund. It is only when we relentlessly attack the core of wastage that we can effectively employ the resources necessary to alleviate our crime situation, fix illiteracy, create proper healthcare and education systems etc, etc, etc.
