Whilst our local BBC have been commendably even handed and respectful, it is sad to see their national counterparts straying from that path and even showing disrespect for a perfectly rational member of the public .... Broadcast at 16:44:28 on 04-06-14 - Radio 5 Live. Available for 3 more days .. (44 mins into the program and we do have an alternative recording) While one realises that presenters often play devils advocate in interviews, it is unacceptable to call a rational member of the public with a legitimate point of view (and I quote) a loony. This is taking the advocacy for the devil a step too far. Such behaviour is reprehensible and needs to be stopped! They need to remember we pay their wages, just the same as our parliament should remember they are our servants. The Times recently carried a response to fracking, calling for a halt from over 150 distinguished scientists and celebrities (including Sir Paul McCartney) and not a word of coverage have I heard on National BBC. Are their presenters going to label Sir Paul or distinguished scientists loonies? I rather think the BBC would be hearing from some high profile lawyers if they did! So they should not do it to members of the public either ...
