Whistleblower Edward Snowden’s asylum in Russia is set to expire Thursday, and his future remains in question as the country considers his renewal request. Fearing a return to the US would result in imprisonment and a sham trial, Snowden’s supporters argue the only way he would consider returning to his home country is if the government drops the espionage charges against him.
