PETERSBURG, Fla. — Paul Konerko said he’d play in the last homestand of his career if it meant “taking the three ugliest swings and striking out.’’ Thankfully for the retiring White Sox captain, it shouldn’t be that ugly. Two and a half weeks after breaking a small bone in his left hand, Konerko returned to the starting lineup, playing through it and playing first base in the Sox’ 4-3 victory Friday over the Tampa Bay Rays. “It’s come a long way,’’ said Konerko, who admitted to being “really nervous that it would be for show the last week.’’ Nervous?
