White Supremacy is now officially a curse word. It has been suggested to me a few folks that calling a white person a white supremacist is the equivalent of calling a black person a nigger. These polemical facebook conversations have revealed to me the degree to which the boundaries and sanctions of white privilage are protected. For white society to claim victimhood for their superior positionality on Americas social strata is absolutely mind blowing. What is even more concerning to me is that the most vehement defenders of this social reality are people of color; people who I personally love and care about dearly. We are so thoroughly trained and conditioned to operate in a way that does not come into conflict with the white superego that anyone who seeks to challenge this reality becomes subject to a variety of condemnations: youre preaching hate, youre being extreme, youre being divisive, etc. constituting a buffer to where white supremacy becomes untouchable. It interests me that these brothers wont lift a finger to contribute to any project seeking to uplift, develop, or improve the very communities to which they belong, yet they are convicted with an imperative to engage in an exhaustive arguement with me on facebook about why we shouldnt call racist white people supremacists -- policing the boundaries to which white supremacy can be addressed and dismantled. Hence, the racist powerholders get to chill, the progressive white comrades are left sitting on their hands, and the folks who are actually down to put in work for community projects of social change are kept at Bay by their own brothers who are so thoroughly inundated with a sedative false consciousness.
