White people who like to hide their head in the sand by pretending that racism is dead must rethink their stance. Their passive participation in racial discrimination is not only stifling social cohesion and reconciliation but will affect their children’s future. When your manager promotes within few months after being trained by a black person, you should actively ask your manager which principles they are advocating. This greed inspired self-preservation attitude will not assist in the efforts towards social cohesion. You must not only speak reconciliation when it suits you but you must act as well. Name-dropping Mandela’s name will not assist as there are very many angry black young men who in the near future will defy the constitutional principles. Your behaviour at all times must show that you are willing to reconcile, address social and economic inequalities.
