Whitnash Town cruised into round 2 of the Coventry Charity cup - TopicsExpress

Whitnash Town cruised into round 2 of the Coventry Charity cup with a comfortable 6-1 victory over Midland Combination outfit Leam Hibs. Whitnash started brightest and had the majority of possession but it took till 30 mins for Mike Ellis to break the deadlock with a shot into the top corner. Hibs hit back 5 mins later after their best period of the match. A right wing cross deflected straight to White who finished smartly on the half volley. The goal shocked Whitnash into action, Luke Cole burst clear soon after and finished well from 12 yards. It was 3-1 at the break, Henry Leaver converting a penalty after a handball. It was Leaver who made it 4 on 55 mins with a neat finish after a head down from centre forward Ross Briscoe. Whitnash were guilty of complacency for much of the remainder of game and the home side nearly got their reward after a dubious penalty award. However keeper Dave Dallenty made a fine double save from the kick. Again Whitnash seemed to be jolted into life. Ryan Harris hit an unstoppable left foot shot into the bottom corner to make it 5-1. Finally Neil Stacey converted a corner on 80 mins to complete the scoring to put a fairer reflection on the score with a well timed header. Whitnashs reward is another away tie at local rivals Racing Club Warwick in November.
