Who Are the Real Human Rights Abusers? China is constantly berated by the US and other Western countries for its supposed human rights violations. Yet the abominable treatment and human rights abuses directed against Chinese minorities in the nations of South and Southeast Asia where the US has influence is seldom if ever mentioned. This article recounts the treatment of Indians of Chinese origin during the Sino-Indian border conflict of 1962. It mimics the internment of US citizens of Japanese origin during WW2. India sent thousands of its citizens of Chinese origins to detention camps in the harsh deserts of Rajasthan and confiscated their businesses and properties..including their houses. As said, it was an unbelievable life and only sheer hard work ann determination helped them to survive. Similar horrific oppression has been directed against Chinese communities in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Indonesia witnessed the mass murder of nearly one million Chinese after the overthrow of Sukarno by the CIA in the 1960s and subsequently overseas Chinese were banned from speaking the Chinese language for about 32 years, the government forced Chinese to change their names into native Indonesian and demanded that they Chinese become Muslim or Christian. It was even mandated that Chinese should intermarry with non-Chinese Indonesians. None of these coercive policies have ever been criticized in the Western press or media, but the US corporate media is always quick to accuse China of all sorts of human rights abuses that pale in comparison to those visited upon overseas Chinese.
