Who are these self-appointed minority group leaders? How is it that criminals and liars rise to the fore and are suddenly the mouth-pieces of their people? Their speech is about hate, not unity. They play upon their peoples supposed victim-hood. They tell them who to fear and what to fear, but mostly to fear. And their people love them for it. They are icons. Theyre praised and paid huge speaking fees. Theyre the ones the media go to for their take on whatever happens that might remotely effect their people. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? No. No, Im talking about Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin. Michael Medved, Ann Coulter, Rick Santorum, Wayne LaPiere, Ted Cruz, Allen West, Rand Paul, Louie Gohmert, Donald Trump, Rudy Guiliani...I could go on and on. Theres dozens if not hundreds of them. Book-shilling hucksters and intellectual frauds, the lot of them. For decades Ive heard white people -- Conservatives -- when speaking of black leaders, say what amounted to If these are the people who speak for them, then what does it say about THEM? Well, what does the cream of the Conservative crop say about Conservatives? Ive listened to these people speak. Ive read the speeches of those attending the CPAC gathering. Ive read their opinion pieces for the newspapers. If you didnt know these people were very well-paid representatives of their cause youd think them unmedicated paranoid schizophrenics -- though the one does not necessarily disqualify the other. They repeat long-disproved lies and outright fantasies which are taken as fact by their followers. It is politics as a religion and those lies are Articles of Faith to Conservatives. Facts will not dissuade them. Show me proof that something I think is true is not true, and I will no longer think its true. Its that simple. I dont accept third hand conspiracy theories as truth. I might suspect something to be so, but I do not so invest myself in that suspicion that I come to think it must be fact because I want it to be so. Its why I could never be a Conservative. I cant accept on faith that which I know to be untrue. Whatever a Conservative might have been at one time -- an advocate for small government (What does that even mean for a nation of 300+ million people?) -- it isnt any longer. To be a Conservative in good standing, theres a laundry list of paranoid ramblings youre supposed to swallow whole. Its the faith of a malignant cult and its preachers are proven charlatans. The whole business makes me despair for my country and the future.
