Who cares! A sore loser! POSTED JANUARY 22, 2014 Tom Brady not planning to watch Super Bowl XLVIII: I couldn’t care less AFC EAST, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, SUPER BOWL XLVIII BY CHRIS BURKE Tom Brady fell shy of making an NFL-record sixth Super Bowl appearance. Tom Brady fell shy of making an NFL-record sixth Super Bowl appearance. (Joe Mahoney/AP) With his team falling one win shy of a Super Bowl trip, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has no interest in dwelling on the 2013 season. He opted out of the Pro Bowl this week (Alex Smith was named his replacement), and he told WEEI in Boston that even watching the Super Bowl is pretty far down his list of priorities. “Those games are hard to watch,” Brady said. “I don’t really see myself sitting down to enjoy a football game to watch it. Our season’s over. Truthfully, I [couldnt] care less about watching the game. That’s pretty much how I feel.” An understandable reaction from Brady there, as he is just days removed from Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, which prevented Brady from making his sixth Super Bowl appearance. He did, however, refuse to classify the season as a failure for his team in spite of Sunday’s loss, though his disappointment remained evident. “I think there’s a lot to be gained by seasons like this,” Brady told WEEI. “You see players that have really emerged to become dependable players for our team and there’s a lot of things to be gained from it. But at the same time we’re not here — I think we’ve established a certain level of play that we’re not satisfied unless we’re the last team standing.” This was the same WEEI interview in which Brady not-so-subtly criticized Richard Sherman for his now-famous interview after Seattle’s NFC title game win. “We win with graciousness, and when we lose we can do better,” Brady offered. It was truly phenomenal what he did with the little bit of talent he had WR. Hats off to him. LikeReply pirate pirate 2 days ago Wow. An amazingly childish and scatological bunch of comments on a very minor story. Surprised how many foul mouthed second graders are on the site. LikeReply bulltorch bulltorch 3 days ago Tom is the man... He doesnt care about the super bowl because he has better things to do like be balls deep in gisele on super bowl sunday in one of his mansions.. And to the whole whether a random selection of the US population thinks he has class thing, I also dont think he cares about that either. There are enough Pats fans out there to be on his side... I dont think he cares if a random joe from oklahoma who hasnt left his trailer in 3 weeks thinks he is classy or not... the guy is a certified superstar on all levels... Peyton, is a great qb, but he will never be like tom. Peyton is just some yokel who says what he needs to say so he can pad his pockets before his neck gives out on him.. This very well could be his last game. And since everyone can relate to him because he is not a superstar model-dating, playboy like tom, they dont experience extreme anger caused by deep envy. That is why Peyton is liked more than Tom.. Tom took his team to afccg on a pretty depleted team. Hell be back and win the super bowl eventually before he retires. he knows it, belichick knows it, and all these hom0s whining about his class here know it... I have allot of respect for the Patriots being contenders, virtually every season and I think that this season may have been the best overall job by Billichick/Brady, etc. The problem is, there are allot of emerging teams in the AFC and it is hard to predict that the Patriots will even get to another Superbowl, under Billichick and Brady. That is why it is so important to not only get to the Superbowl, but to win it, if given that opportunity. I dont see the Patriots odds of winning another one as being any better than 4 or 5 other teams, in their conference, let alone, the loaded NFC. Almost everything has to go right, to even get there, ie: minimal injuries (especially to key players), being able to keep a roster together, due to Free Agency and the cap and how good the division that the teams are in, can make a big difference, due to about half of the games being against those opponents and their records determining the ability to even win a division, or get a playoff spot. I think the Pats.have benefitted, as much as any team, by their weak division. I mean, show me a powerhouse in the AFC East, or any team there who has been consitently good, other than New England. The AFC East may be the worst division in the NFL, over the past 10 -12 years, or the time that the Patriots have dominated said division. I think Billichick will retire the same year that Brady does and I just dont see them being this major favorite to win another one over the next 2 or 3 years, which is likely how long Brady will play. LikeReply Andie Andie 3 days ago @JohnKoehl Tom is a great QB. The team is what won Sundays game. Switch teams, Brady on Broncos and Manning on Patriots. Manning would have loss. The team wins the game not the qb. Broncos wouldnt have won, if their defense wasnt making great plays. Manning would never have those great plays without Decker, Thomas, Moreno. Now Welker of course did his part when he took his big helmet and knocked the Patriots best defensive player out of the game. People fail to mention that Brady was still sick. Patriots are going to keep Tom Brady, did you miss his big contract? Tom Brady has good character. I dont know where he got this bad rep from, but its freaking madness. His team lost the game so why would he watch it? Do you know how HARD it is for them to get that far? He isnt the only one not going watch the Super Bowl. LikeReply struckanerve9 struckanerve9 3 days ago @Andie@JohnKoehlHis reputation comes from his actions after losses, during games, and in the offseason. Just watch the ESPN documentary about him and watch him cry (literally) about being picked in the sixth round. Not to mention all the crying he does on the field to the officials every time an opposing d-lineman comes within 3 feet of him (I like to call that the roughing the Brady rule). LikeReply JPM JPM 22 hours ago @Goldenrods This just wouldnt be an ESPN conversation thread without at least one reference to They havent won anything since Spygate. Here are the facts, gentlemen: Since Spygate, the Patriots have won 2 AFC titles, 6 Division titles, and have compiled a record of 98-23 in the regular season. Repeat, the Patriots have lost only 23 regular season games since Spygate. That’s the best won-loss record in the NFL over that time frame. Also, if the Pats were using Spygate in 2001, how come they were only able to score just one offensive touchdown vs. Rams in the Super Bowl? Patriots were BLANKED in the 2nd half, except for a FG scored on a 2 min drill where NO defensive plays were called. Would you honestly watch another company give a presentation about the new multimillion dollar contract they won over your company? or would you focus on what went wrong, what you might do better next time and then enjoy some down time away from the job? 3LikeReply Andie Andie 3 days ago @frankleetyred Some of these new contracts that got signed this year, were stated not because they were the best but because they could bring in people. Firstly, Brady showed poor sportsmanship by saying im not gona watch it and the related comments. Its apparent that hes bitter. Secondly, if nothing else, he could possibly learn a thing or two about the team he lost to. I dont know if you know, but players watch previously played games of teams theyre going to play against. Its called preparation. Would you go debate with someone without learning a thing about them? Do you go take an exam w out studying? LikeReply BarrySoetoro BarrySoetoro 3 days ago @Vinny Cordoba@JoieMcCawvinny puts an idiot label on you. LikeReply Andie Andie 3 days ago @JojoLove I think you missed the point. Youre reading too much into this. He doesnt want to and its okay. Its called preparation? He isnt going to play them until the new season, new guys, new coaches, and Manning might not be back. If he wins the Super Bowl, he will be leaving. So it really doesnt matter if Brady watches or not, because by the time season starts everything will be different. Also if you studied like you say you do, :/, then you know they prepare for each team different. Each team plays different so you have to adjust every week. But you knew that... 1LikeReply JojoLove JojoLove 3 days ago Ok smarty pants. I was responding to vinny abt the nfl comment. Since u know it all, feel free to take over. Oh, u already did.
