Who else ever saw or lived in a place with an old Ice Box? I lived in a few places with them, and my Mom born in 23 always called a refrigerator Ice Box, and Sofas Davenports. The Brick apartments I grew up in, in my teenage years had them in every room, most with original hardware, doors, etc. The basement was interesting, had a big belt driven flywheel and big compressor heads and copper lines off a manifold that ran off to each apartment where at some point they had been converted to run off ammonia. They also had an incinerator door on every floor that dropped down to a giant brick Incinerator in the basement with a clean out pit and big scary looking doors...
