Who else was obsessed with LEGOs growing up? I spent my whole childhood building (and, better yet, destroying!) various contraptions. I won second place in a national LEGO competition with a pneumatically-powered spaceship I built from scratch – which brought me tantalizingly close to the Grand Prize – a trip to Space Camp. My unbridled enthusiasm was met by much support and two clear boundaries from Mom – the no projects after 6 rule (Id get too hyped up and not be able to sleep) and the pathway rule (I was required to push the LEGO bricks aside to clear a pathway between my door and my bed every night.) I couldnt stand these rules. Ive still got bins upon bins of bricks in my parents basement.
