Who here is knowledgeable about the inner workings of land size, - TopicsExpress

Who here is knowledgeable about the inner workings of land size, non-profit laws, and Intentional Communities (ie: The Farm, Dancing Rabbit, along those lines or other)? I like dreaming about this sort of thing, but I also want to realize what makes more sense with it. Like, what can really be done on X amount of acres of land to sustain an IC? Ive seen articles of people able to produce food for 10,000 on as little as 3 acres of land. I found super-affordable ranches going into as large as 20-80 acres, but places like Dancing Rabbit is like 280+ acres, while something like the Principality of Monaco is about 500 acres (along with a bunch of other European microstates); which in turn would allow for things like extra living space, utilities for self-sufficiency, or more food output. Like 40 acres seems huge but is it big enough? And the non-profit laws... How does one go about getting the 501c3 tax exemption to operate an IC if all its doing is serving as a giant house and not a charity or scientific case? Whatever DR did to get that status would be ideal. Assuming an IC ever gets donations, not only would the donor benefit in tax relief, but the money could be reconstituted in the IC to make it better, whether to pay off a debt or invest in a technology everyone needs. What do you guys have to say?
