Mothers Name : Mrs. Gulnahar Yousuf Sayedee. Language known: Arabic, Urdu, Bengali and English. Issues : Only four sons. No daughter. Profession : politician.( influential Orator) : elected as an MP 2times. (1996 & 2001). Education :Dakhil -1957(SSC level) :Alim- 1961 (Intermediate level) Publications : wrote more than 67 books including a Tafseer. Personal Information: Mr. Delawar Hossain Sayedee is a renowned scholar of Islam in Bangladesh as well as in the whole golobe. He is an artful orator, popular leader and organizer. Such competency made his political opponents so much jealous. Mr. Sayedee was born in Pirojpur on 2 February 1940. His fathers name is Maulana Yousuf Sayedee, who was also a very good orator and peer (saint). Mr.Sayedee completed his primary education from a local Islamic Madrasah established by his father. After that he had admitted to Sarsina Darus Sunnat Alia Madrasah and passed Dakhil examination (SSC level) in 1957. Thereafter in 1960 he passed Alim examination with 3rd Division from Baruipara Siddiquia Senior Madrasa. According to the examination certificate at that time his age was 19 years 01 month. After that we could not find any evidence showing his formal study. But he took self study in different branches of Islamic knowledge, such as Uloomul Hadith, Tafseer and Fiqhul Hadith, Political Science, Economics & Foreign Affairs. Along with this Mr. Sayedee had done different researches in the Languages and the beliefs and the ideas throughout five years. Figure of spiritual and social leadership Mr. Sayedee is a famous Islamic Scholar in Bangladesh. He is a very prominent Islamic personality and politician, a former Member of Parliament and one of the most prominent leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and elected twice as a member of parliament from Jamaat-e-Islami. Mr. Sayedee is a Mufassir (commenter/ illustrator) of the Holy Quran. He travelled more than 50 countries of the world to give sermon. Most of his lectures are recorded and are widely available. His main contribution, however, has been in the fields of the Quranic exegesis (Tafseer), ethics, social studies and the problems facing the movement of Islamic revival. He lectured profusely to explain the different aspects of the Islamic way of life, especially the socio-political aspects. This concern for the implementation of the Islamic way of life led Allama Sayedee to criticize and oppose the policies pursued by the successive governments of Bangladesh and to blame those in power for failing to transform Bangladesh into a peaceful, transparent, democratic country. The rulers reacted with severe reprisal measures. Mr. Sayedee was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Pirojpur Sadar Constituency twice 1996 and 2001 respectively. In 1996 Parliamentary election he was elected as an MP and became the leader of Jamaat Parliamentary Group. He performed the following responsibility in the 8th Parliament: 1. Deputy leader, Parliamentary Party, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami 2. Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Religious Affairs 3. Member, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Special Privilege Committee 4. Member, National Water Resources Council, Water Resources Ministry 5. Member, National Agricultural Award Trustee Board, Agriculture Ministry 6. Member, Zakat Board, Religious Ministry. Despite his engagement in Tafseer Mahfil at home and abroad he was actively involved in organizational work. He is a Deputy Ameer and member of Central Executive Committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (the highest policy making body). ROLE IN THE LIBERATION WAR: In 1971, most of the time during our liberation War Mr. Sayedee was at Parerhut Bondor of Pirojpur and used to deal in commodities at Parerhut Bazar with his brother in law, a renowned businessman, Late Mojaher Ali Mallik. He used to address religious congregation during that time in Barisal, Khulna, Jessore and other districts of north Bengal. But as soon as the Liberation War ushered religious congregation stopped as usual throughout the country. He then started to live in a rented house at Parerhut, Pirojpur with his family. He was Neither a Razakar, Al-Badr, Al-Shams nor a member of the so called Peace committee. All the allegations against him are collaboration with the Pakistani force and other affiliated forces. Even he had no relations with political parties before 1974. In different congregations he had challenged openly to prove if he had any anti-liberation role. The complaints used to say that he tortured the minority people of Pirojpur in 1971. But for this allegation Mr. Sayedee was neither jailed nor did he go into disguise after Liberation war because he was not a member of the anti liberation forces like Razakar, Al-Badr or so called peace committee. In the independent Bangladesh he was the first man to start Quranic commentary congregation. Joined Political Party Mr. Sayedee joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as primary member in 1974. Before joining he had never been associated with any political party. Performance of Hajj (Pilgrimage): Mr. Sayedee Performed Hajj in all the years since 1973. He performed two times Hajj in the hosting of His Majesty King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz & also performed Hajj in the year of 2009 by the invitation of His Majesty King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and Performed Hajj five times in the hosting of Rabitat-Al-Alam Al-Islami. The Visits Outside: Allama Sayedee Traveled more than 50 states of Asia, Europe & America, Africa & Australia. He attend the conference held in Holy city of Makkah invited by His Majesty King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz during the war between the Iraq & Kuwait in the year 1991 for the solution of Muslims cases in which participated four hundred prominent persons from the Islamic thinkers and the magnificent scholars from aspects of the world. He also attends in the first annual conference in remembrance of Iranian wealth in Tehran in hosting of Imam Khomeni (Rhm) in the year 1979. Mr. Sayedee attends three times in the International Holy Quraan Award Organization as Chief Guest by the invitation of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Makhtum, Vice President & Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates & Ruler of Dubai. Attend in the ceremony of the chosen Parliament Members for the International Commonwealth Parliament Members held in Canada in the year 2003 by the invitation of the Government of Canada .
