Who is a racist?. I find a good part of the black communities are living in the past. This is no longer the 60’s. Whitey is not out to lynch you. When you have people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson inciting hatred, some of those blacks never get over their preconceived notions. Instead of moving forward they hang onto the past. Hatred begets hatred. Until that part of the community modifies that kind of thinking they will live with hatred in their hearts. As long as they keep feeding the flame of racism and bigotry nothing positive can come out of it. The reactions from some blacks after George Zimmerman was acquitted are a good example of that hatred. They are outside the court room with their young children. And the first thing they cry out is how unjust the system is. It’s not the system. It isn’t the white community. It is a mindset that they have lived with all their lives. And that mindset is what gets past down to generation after generation. This is not the 60’s. Blacks are not oppressed. Blacks aren’t at the receiving end of a lifelong grudge. This is 2013. There’s even a black man in the White House who is president. Continue to pass this hatred down and nothing comes of it but pain. We’re taught to love one another. We’ve been schooled in political correctness. Yet, there are so many black kids that have been raised to think that the white man is out to get the black man. They are taught they are oppressed. They are taught they don’t have the same rights that white people have. They think of themselves being treated like slaves. This is where the racism lies. George Zimmerman would never have been charged for murder if it weren’t for some people who are still racist. He acted in self-defense. This should never have gone to trial. If it were white on white or black on black it would have remained a non-issue. But you already have a divisive President who makes remarks geared toward causing unrest. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson cry out for justice. Justice for whom? This was never about race until the President inserted himself and made this about race. Eric Holder and the DOJ had absolutely no business in fostering the thought that this was about race. So now you have a large community who doesn’t know the facts. Instead of looking into the matter what do they do? They continue to condemn a Hispanic man. That is racism. Then you have marches because the black man has been wronged again. More than likely Travon grew up in an environment with that racist mentality. The two men exchanged words. It should have ended there. Why did Travon coldcock George? What do you think was going in Travon’s mind that would cause him to throw a punch? Could it be Travon became racist living among black people who thought whitey is out to get them? Did he grow up in an atmosphere where most blacks still think they are oppressed? If anyone is to blame for Travon’s death it’s the blacks. If any person grows up hearing hatred toward another people or race, what happens? They grow up thinking that has to be the way it is. They won’t allow themselves to think beyond race and color. And they bind themselves down. Unfortunately there are some blacks who have never gotten past the 60’s. Whether meaning to or not this hatred is passed on. 60 years ago a good part of white people’s lives were taught that it’s not right to see a person for anything than what they are. They have been taught not to judge anyone by their color or race. They’ve been taught that derogatory remarks hurt, no matter what the color. Some may even find their mouths washed out with soap if their parents hear them make a remark that is derogatory. Yet over and over I hear black men calling themselves Nigger or Nigga’. I’ve had black people call me Nigga’. Has nothing been learned over the past 60 years? When my family immigrated to the United States they were called names such as wop. Those words cut deeply. They were looked down upon because they were number one Italian and number two they were Catholic. Because of such bigotry they couldn’t even buy the home in their own names. Why? For what reason? The people in the area, regardless of color, were prejudice. Why? Probably from the conceptions taught of what Italians were supposed to be like. I would venture to say, the main reason they had these conceptions was because they were raised with that mentality. Instead of giving this Catholic Italian family the benefit of doubt they were called deggoes. That did not stop them from buying a house among these people. They didn’t hate the people who didn’t want them to move into their community. Instead, this Catholic Italian family went about their daily business. People took notice. They saw how this Catholic Italian family lived their lives. They started to see with their own eyes that these Catholic Italians were good people. Once they lost that preconceived notion that they had about Catholic Italians, they began to realize this family was just the same as they were. In fact this Italian Family ended up being loved by the community that originally hated them. The community realized that these Catholic Italians were loving people. They also found out that Italian women spend a lot of their time in their kitchen cooking and baking. They began to realize how generous these Catholic Italian’s were with their food. These Catholic Italians wanted to share. And boy did the community like this Catholic Italian Woman’s prowess in the kitchen! They looked forward to the warmth of these people. And the pasta, wine and cookies that this Catholic Italian family shared with them. When the Old Catholic Italian man died, the community mourned his passing. And when the Old Catholic Italian Woman died the community mourned over their loss. They grew to love this family so much that many thought of them as part of their family. And when someone in their family died a part of them died as well. If people of any color keep hatred in their hearts, they won’t be able to grow. They won’t be able to see past their preconceived notions. And when people keep this mindset it gets handed down, intentionally or not.
