Who is going to WIN? Sharapova will win this final. This is how it is. Her game is not first strike game like the pundits will have you believe. She actually has a consistency striking at high pace. Not many players can do hat. Usually if you are striking the ball that hard you get quite erratic and she is but she has enough winners to compensate for them and is actually able to move the opponent from side to side. Although she is a clumsy runner and has a serve problem, she is able to compensate for them. That is why most of her matches go to three sets. And although Halep is more steady and cunning she may not be able to cope with the pace that Sharapova brings to her game. She will have to fight her shot for shot and I think she cannot or does not have the ability to fight Sharapovas onslaught. She will need to get stronger with her shots before she can do that. That is what their game tells me. Nadal had a real easy draw and is playing not that great although it looks that way. He is playing mostly people that were actually beginners compared to him. The only real player he faced was Andy but Andy has not been the same after his surgery and played a real poor game and had no strategy going in. He constantly put the ball on Nadals forehand and got killed every time. I dont think Andy knows anything about playing Nadal and does not know he is left handed and that his back hand is on the other side. Nadal is not at his best contrary to what people think and although Djokovic played real sloppily against Gulbis ( I knew he was going to beat Gulbis), he will beat Nadal in the final. His serve is not as strong as it was and Djokovic has chances on it. Also notice that Djokovic has more control over the ball and knows Nadal is left handed and Nadals high ball does not bother him since he steps back and takes position and hits it appropriately as it is on the down side and hence in his strike zone. Andy just did not know how to handle the high balls and his (Andys) returns are not low and deep and hence in Nadal/s strike zone. His back is always bothering him. But he did put up a brave fight. But he was playing confused and did not exhibit any strategy that I could see. He was just playing and returning like say Jelena Jankovic. She steps on court and does not paly like the objective is ti win but as if the objective is going to a show. Bu the final is going to be tough and if Djokovic serve is ok he will actually win this one. Ther is also the fact that Nadal serves are returnable unlike some of Gulbis and hence once the ball is in play the probability is high that Djokovic will get the point. If there are long rallies Djokovic will win but he is going to have to work hard and remember that he(Nadal) is left handed and Djokovic should also know that Nadals most dangerous shot is the inside out forehand. The problem with this shot is that it looks like a normal cross court from a right handed player but it is not since the angle at which it comes is way more acute to the base line and a normal crosscourt is not doing that angle. Consequently the right handed person has to run way more to get that inside out in the deuce on his hide when Nadal is on his deuce court side. Andy showed a singular ignorance of that shot and missed it time and gain and many times could not even get to it even though he was already in that corner. Such was the acuteness of the ball angle with the base line on receiver side. It was pathetic. Most left handers exploit this shot of theirs to the fullest. Fernando Verdasco does that also and Nadals is quite lethal. There is no way to win against Nadal if you do not know this. Djokovic does. He actually can move Nadal around the court and is able to return Nadals staple killer shot. So I am thinking Djokovic is going to get this one. That is what the game analysis and knowledge of players of each other tells me but anything can happen as always. RH
