Who is the man of agencies!!! En Rashid reacts to a remark made by Omar Abdullah in his recent interview with Greater Kashmir RESPONSE This is in reference to Omar Abdullah’s interview recently published in Greater Kashmir, in which he had alleged that Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) is a creation of New Delhi to divide public mandate in Kashmir to weaken Kashmiri leadership. Omar Abdullah, as working president of single largest party in the assembly, and as a Chief Minister has every right to make any observation he deems true. However, fact of the matter is that he as a responsible and mature politician, and as a Chief Minister of the State should think twice before uttering even a single word about sensitive issues and his political opponents. Whether his observation or allegation regarding formation of AIP carries any weight or not but it has strengthened the charges, assumptions and apprehensions of those elements who cry every time that no political alliances or formation is possible without blessings of New Delhi. Kashmiris have a right to know that if Omar Abdullah knows so much about role of New Delhi and its ill designs to divide mandate of Kashmiris, then he should expose all those individuals and elements including Er. Rashid who are playing in the hands of New Delhi for vested interests, best known to Omar Abdullah. He should dare New Delhi to stop the alleged shameful policy of criminalizing and commercializing Kashmiri politics. If he for one or the other reason hesitates to do so then he should stay home than succumb to central agencies, letting Kashmiris down by hiding very important facts which they have a right to know. May I ask Mr. Omar Abdullah that if he is so worried about the division of Kashmiri’s mandate the least he could have done was to bring NC and PDP (who both claim to be Kashmiri’s nationalist parties) together and ensure that role of New Delhi and Jammu based parties is minimized. He knows that I have requested him and PDP in state assembly many times to form workable strategy and a common minimum program to move forward in a time bound manner for achieving a genuine, long pending political and other aspirations of Kashmiri people. May I remind both Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdulla that I met them personally in March 2011 and requested for the unity between all those forces who claim to care for the People. Then I wrote two separate letters to both of them regarding the same. Who doesn’t know the dirty and mysterious role played by NC and PDP in sabotaging clemency resolution for Mohammad Afzal Guru and then their criminal silence and conspiracy which resulted in humiliating tragedy of not getting even the mortal remains of Mohammad Afzal Guru back. Before accusing Er. Rashid of dividing Kashmiri mandate, it is important to mention how you played a joke in front of Saifudin Soz, Hakim Yasin and Tarigami with the memorandum that I had given to Mr. Pranab Mukherjee for Afzal Guru’s clemency. Pranab Mukherjee was seriously reading the memorandum and if you ask your inner conscience that joke facilitated hanging of Afzal Guru. You must know that it is not me who divided the mandate but your lack of commitment to protect the people of Kashmir. On the eve of Afzal’s murder I was released from police station Handwara after nine days. I straight away requested all the political parties including NC and PDP for an All Party’s Meet to discuss Mohammad Afzal Guru hanging and protest before New Delhi against this murder, treating Kashmiris as second class citizens and at least ensure that we get his mortal remains back. Though I, as an individual, knew my worth, but being a conscious Kashmiri I tried to act as a bridge between the major political parties and never claimed to be a ‘pan Kashmiri leader’. It needs not to be elaborated that how these two parties made a joke of my sincere and honest effort to facilitate an All Party’s Meet and the assembly record is enough to reveal the dirty role played by NC and PDP over Mohammad Afzal Guru and other related issues in the assembly especially in the recently concluded budget session. One more simple thing which Omar Abdullah must answer is that if his grand papa was so worried about unity of Kashmiris and division of their mandate then what did he do with the huge mandate which Kashmiris had given him. He simply surrendered all that Maharaja had got after entering into conditional and temporary instrument of accession with GOI. Why couldn’t Late Sheikh Sahib do anything in 1975 to restore 1953 position when people thought that he changed strategy by taking power from those who he had fought against. He had been asking Kashmiris to go for a social boycott for the decades and had been repeatedly naming them as ‘Gandi Naali Kay Keeday’. Kashmiris yet again gave Sheikh Sahib a chance to rectify his huge mistakes by giving him two third majority in 1977 with the hope that he will resolve Kashmir dispute. At least he could restore the eroded Autonomy but he once again succumbed and surrendered everything. He played foul with the huge and unfractured mandate of Kashmiri people and this was the stage when mandate of Kashmiri people started dividing on ideological differences. Let us set the record right that the process of division among Kashmiris reached its peak when National Conference created fissures among Kashmiris in 1996 and participated in the Agencies Sponsored Elections against the wishes of Kashmiri people who had sacrificed everything for the resolution of Kashmir issue. People of Kashmir had opted for boycott to elections to tell the world community that if India claims our participation as loyalty towards India then we reject elections. Omar Abdullah by spreading rumours that Delhi wants ‘Mohaley, Mohaley Mein Leader’ intends to provoke sentiments of Kashmiris in the name Kashmiri Nationalism. He must know that it will miserably fail because he and his ancestors have sold us to New Delhi for their petty and vested interests. May I humbly and gracefully enquire from my Honourable Chief Minister that do you and Mehbooba Mufti cry for an overwhelming mandate so that no voice is raised against their ill designs of diluting a very simple problem of dispute of Jammu and Kashmir by singing aimless tunes of Autonomy and Self Rule and to give protection to the misdeeds of security forces who are terrorizing and murdering Kashmiris. Do you need a clear mandate so that teen agers are booked under PSA, common Kashmiris face humiliation at Police Stations in the name of so called police verifications, our prisoners who are languishing in Jails since decades continue to be there till death, to cry for helplessness in Assembly, to order fake enquiries after every murder and brutality, to stop old aged citizens from performing Hajj, to destroy ecological balance by allowing flood of Yatries for Amarnath, to make life of jail return Kashmiris hell, to label every Kashmiri as a terrorist, to get packages for Jammu and Ladakh in the name of Prime Ministers Reconstruction Program (PMRP), to allow NHPC to behave like East India Company, to allow few political families, renegades, bureaucrats, MLAs and VIPs to enjoy at the cost of state exchequer and suck blood of oppressed Kashmiris, to allow your ministers to enter into the race of scandals and all other misdeeds and allow you still to claim well wisher of Kashmiris. One must do everything to get into power but to serve, not to enjoy like our rotten system ensures. The two dynasties of Muftis and Sheikhs may have every right to rule Kashmiris for centuries if people give them a mandate to do so. But who has given them the right to label others as creation of agencies. They can’t stop or humiliate any one from joining politics by labeling them as creation of New Delhi. Anyone rising from the grass roots level and gaining support from the masses not on bases of dynasty but purely on performance and reputation has every right to represent the sentiments of the people. It is these two parties who in the name self rule and autonomy have fractured the mandate and let down Kashmiris by playing in the hands of New Delhi. They have been working like servants of Congress and other vested anti Kashmiri forces. It would have been better if Omar would have confessed that Er Rashid provided him unconditional support for one and a half years just to strength his hands to fullfill his claims and promises of restoring honour and dignity of Kashmiri people and to ensure that the mandate of Kashmiris doesn’t get divided further. Had I been so selfish and playing in the hands of New Delhi I would have never supported his candidate in the Parliamentary Elections who had lost even his deposit in the assembly elections from Langate just four months back. Omar must tell people what was the agreement between him and Er Rashid which made latter to support him for one and a half years and then to withdraw it. One has every reason to reject Omar Abdullah’s allegation that Er Rashid has been elected because of follies of NC. Still if it is believed to be true then his frustration is quite genuine as it seems he is reading the writing on the wall that people from other constituencies may take a cue from people of Langate and punish NC for its follies. Let me conclude; I am a strong believer of the fact that if I or anyone else sincere and committed to his people Almighty will create ways and means to carry forward people’s agenda. Omar Abdullah must know that it is not individuals who matter; they must be always ready to play their role with sincerity and dedication and should not hesitate from getting lost in the process and getting consumed. I assure you my Chief Minister that I am the one among them and doesn’t need your or anybody’s certificate. I have proved it on occasions and will prove it whenever required.
