Who knew theres a fashion designer who specializes in science-inspired clothing for women? Matthew Hubble designed a dress for May-Britt Moser to wear to accept her 2014 Nobel prize for Physiology and Medicine. The dress depicts the very neurons she helped discover (the cells that make up the brain’s positioning system). Awesome! Matthew thinks scientists should be as celebrated as movie stars are, so why shouldn’t they have designers fawning all over them when they attend formal events? Matthew finds his inspiration in science and engineering, and has an entire line of clothes that incorporates things like the molecular structure of DNA, Electrophoresis (the method of detecting the code of DNA), and the concept of parallel universes. His designs are high-end couture compared to our line of girls t-shirts, so we are not in the same league. But we are inspired by his work and share his love of science!
