Who remembers the car & drag racing scene in HB in the 60s, 70s & 80s? Surfing & drag racing went hand in hand, just like in all the old Beach Boys songs. I caught the last days of that in the early-mid 1980s. The guys with fast cars would hang out in the parking lot at the Malibu Grand Prix on Magnolia & Warner. They would set up illegal street races down on Argosy Street, between Bolsa Chica & Graham. Legal drag racing was always at OCIR in Irvine. They also had the Bug-in shows there for the VW owners. I remember girls got in OCIR free on Saturday nights and they called it fox hunt nights. Lots of fun back in the day.
