Who said this:“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” Saint-Gaudens thirty-fifth and thirty-sixth works were both completed in Rome in 1874. #35 was a 21 tall bust of Cicero. Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BC – 43 BC) was a Roman philosopher, politician, lawyer, orator, political theorist, consul and constitutionalist. He is widely considered one of Romes greatest orators and prose stylists. #36 was a 21 high bust of Demosthenes, (384–322 BC) a prominent Greek statesman and orator of ancient Athens. Incidentally, the quote at the top was by Cicero. Demosthenes had some good ones, too, such as: You cannot have a proud and chivalrous spirit if your conduct is mean and paltry; for whatever a mans actions are, such must be his spirit.
