#WhoIsMuhammad (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) “And We have exalted your status” [Sūrat al-Sharḥ, 94/4] Allāh exalted the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ rank in this world and in the Hereafter. I bear witness that there is no God, but Allāh and Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is mentioned where Allāh is mentioned in the call announcing the time for ṣalāh (adhān), in the second call to establish ṣalāh (iqāmah), in the Shahādah (witnessing that there is no God, but Allāh and Muhammad is His Messenger), in the khuṭbah and in other instances. Reciting durūd (upon the Messenger ﷺ) abundantly not only has a calming effect on a person but also softens the heart. [Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq] #WhoIsMuhammad (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) We are supposed to love the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ every day of the year and the way to show that love is to follow his ﷺ way, life and teachings. The birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a momentous occasion and blessing for the whole of mankind. His ﷺ very coming into this world is a means and source of mercy for the entire universe as Allāh says: “And We have not sent you but as a mercy for the worlds.” [Al-Anbiyāʾ, 21/107] [This excerpt is based on a lecture delivered by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq] “And We have exalted your status” [Sūrat al-Sharḥ, 94/4] So much so that even non-Muslim scholars have to acknowledge the greatness of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. George Bernard Shaw, who was a famous playwright and author, said: “I have always held the religion of Muhammed in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today.” Al Kawthar Academy #WhoIsMuhammad “And We have exalted your status” [Sūrat al-Sharḥ, 94/4] So much so that even non-Muslim scholars have to acknowledge the greatness of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Charles Issawai said: “It does not seem too much to say that if any one man changed the course of History that man was Muhammad.” Indeed, Allāh and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O you who believe! Send your blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.” Al Kawthar Academy 2 hrs · #WhoIsMuhammad “Say, if you love Allāh, then follow me, and Allāh shall love you and forgive you your sins; and Allāh is Forgiving, Merciful” [Sūrat Al-ʿImrān, 3/31] In this āyah, we learn that Allāh has made the obedience of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ a proof and sign that a person loves Allāh and loves to worship and obey Allāh. The Prophet’s ﷺ life is the best example for the whole of mankind to follow and adhere to and those who love Allāh are the most eager to follow in the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ footsteps. The whole being of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is one of raḥmah (mercy), his ﷺ teachings, his ﷺ sunnah, and he himself ﷺ is the embodiment of mercy. The ḥadīth, ‘I have not been sent as one to curse, rather I was only sent as a mercy.’ is just one example of the mercy of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. [This excerpt is based on a lecture delivered by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq] We learn from many aḥādīth that even in that state where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had been physically injured and many of his ṣahābah being martyred and injured, that he ﷺ was composed and merciful and didn’t even curse those who launched such an attack, rather the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, ‘I have not been sent as one to curse, rather I was only sent as a mercy.’ The Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ mercy was not limited to the believers and as we learn in a ḥadīth regarding an incident that occurred on the day of the battle of Uḥud. In Uḥud, the Muslims initially scored a victory but after the first wave of success, a small number of the companions failed to fully act on the instructions of the Prophet ﷺ, the Muslims suffered a setback and there was utter confusion; the Muslims began retreating and they were caught in a pincer attack (from the front and the back) by the pagans of Makkah. The ṣahabah and even the Prophet ﷺ had to make a retreat. There was great confusion and there were even rumours that the Prophet ﷺ had been martyred, but the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was alive, although he had been injured. In that state of confusion and retreat as well as some of the companions being martyred and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ being wounded, some of the ṣahābah said, as narrated by Abū Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with him): ‘O Messenger of Allāh, pray against the pagans.’ He ﷺ said: إِنِّي لَمْ أُبْعَثْ لَعَّانًا وَإِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ رَحْمَةً “I have not been sent as one to curse, rather I was only sent as a mercy.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim] [This excerpt is based on a lecture delivered by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq] #shaykhriyadhulhaq #darse #jummah #rabialawal #duroodshareef #aka We follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and we take hold onto and take ‘whatsoever the Messenger of Allāh gives us’, as Allāh says: And whatsoever the messenger gives you, take it. And whatsoever he forbids, abstain (from it). And keep your duty to Allāh. Indeed! Allāh is stern in reprisal. [Al-Ḥashr, 59/7] We as believers unconditionally take whatever the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ gives us and abstain and stay away from whatever the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ forbids us from.
