Whoa. Citibank got 1/2 trillion dollars in the bailout.....but why fund WIC, right? Why fund those pesky poor people when we could be funding the banksters. (Ps-Im neither a dem or republican, but I love what Ms Warren says here.) I, personally lost a piece of property after hurricane Katrina to the countywide mortgage fiasco. I tried EVERY way that I could to keep the place. The property had received 10 ft of water, but the insurance company only paid out 50% of the claim. (They insisted that despite sitting under 10 ft of water for 2 weeks, it wasnt a total loss.) The bank gave us 3 months off of paying, (added to the back end,) but the insurance company took 12 months to pay out on the policy. Meaning, I was sitting on a wet, moldy double with no money to fix it and yet the bank aggressively insisted that I pay a monthly note. Finding contractors at that time was very difficult. Finding them when you has no money to pay was impossible. If we dont think that the poor among us should get a bailout, I dont see how the wealthy banks deserve one. I, personally, would rather fund WIC than Citibank.
